How It's Made: Artisans first blend scrap fabric with water until the mixture becomes a watery paste. To create a broad spectrum of colors, vibrant azo-free dyes are added at this stage. Artisans then pull wire mesh screens through tubs filled with the mixture, forming sheets. These wet sheets are skillfully transferred from the screen into stacks, each sheet separated by layers of fabric.
