Meet Olivia! Q&A with our newest team member
We are excited to introduce you to our newest team member and intern, Olivia! She is our Marketing and Public Relations intern this Spring and super exciting addition to the HPH community. She will be helping run events, managing some of our social media, and finding new ways to get connected in our community. We can't wait to see all the ways she helps share the HPH story!
Below are a few questions we asked her to help you get to know her better:
What got you interested in Fair Trade and Social Enterprises initially?
I have always held an interest in work that will provide me with more than just a salary. I believe that work with Fair Trade, Social Enterprises, or just charity/non-profit work in general will help me to give back to other people's lives as well as my own. I'm hoping that HPH will help me to integrate myself into a community of people who feel the same way and lead to more Fair Trade and Nonprofit work for myself in the future.
How do you want to make the world a better place through your Public Relations Degree?
With my Public Relations Degree, I am hoping to put my good people-skills to use and work with those in need both around the world and in my own community in any way that is available to me.
Through any career I follow, I will hope to gain great experiences and learn as much as I can about different people in the world and positively impact their lives as much as they can mine.
I am hoping to somehow include photography, one of my biggest passions, in any future work I may do as well.
What are two things at the top of your bucket list?
- I would love to take at least one big mission trip, if not make mission work a regular part of my life, and do serious hands-on work with the people we are aiming to help. Traveling in general is something I hope to center my life around in the future.
- Cliff dive into the ocean. This one is just something I've always wanted to do and haven't yet.
If you could share one piece of advice with yourself 10 years ago what would it be?
That the thoughts and opinions of others are seriously the most unimportant things to ever exist. What I choose to do to make myself happy, whether it's how I dress, how I spend my time, or any unconventional career path I choose, should not ever be influenced by the opinions of other people. Whatever choices I make for myself should be based off of how they make me, and no one else, feel. While it is a cliche, being concerned with how other see you, or what they think, will truly be the biggest waste of your time.
