5 Fair Trade Gifts for Him

Can you believe it'll be February in two days already? As Valentine's Day is sneaking closer around the corner, we've rounded up 5 fair trade gifts for the awesome men in your life - Dad, best friend, husband, boyfriend, son, brother - they are sure to love these products that give back!

  1. Orlando bracelet - Of course, we have to feature our very own bracelet, Orlando! Handmade from Pita fibers, these accessories are a labor of love originating from a Guaymi woven tradition that's been passed down for centuries. These bracelets are crafted by our artisan Orlando, whose wife and daughters are also a part of our Costa Rica program! Each purchase provides dignified work, and helps us facilitate continued education and life skills workshops for our artisans.
  2. Coffee & MiiR tumbler gift box - You could say we've got a soft spot for Rwanda.. This box includes a 12 oz bag of Rwanda coffee and a MiiR travel tumbler of your choice. Land of A Thousand Hills is one of our favorite coffee companies that provides their farmers with a sustainable income, and brings hope and restoration to an entire nation through care for orphans and widows as a result of the 1994 genocide. Additionally, each tumbler provides one person with clean drinking water for an entire year and includes a bracelet with a unique number that tracks the progress of the well you helped support with your purchase.

  3. The Scout - This one's for the beanie lover in your life. Made in Peru, this beanie is made by the artisans behind Krochet Kids, an awesome company that provides fair wages for highly vulnerable women in poverty-stricken communities in Uganda and Peru, empowering them with education and mentorship towards a brighter future.

  4. Hammock - Who doesn't look a good hammock time? Ticket to the Moon is a fair trade company based out of Bali that strives to raise awareness of sustainability, fair trade production issues and minimizing environmental impact. Each purchase goes to support the Sumbanese Kodi tribe in East Indonesia through health, educational, cultural and development aid programs. To date, the TTTM foundation has helped its local community by building new infrastructure and education facilities, implementing malaria prevention programs and finding access to clean water.

  5. Adibo shoes - How. Cool. Are. These. Shoes. Oliberté is a fair trade, sustainable brand that supports workers' rights in sub-Saharan Africa and became the world's first fair trade certified footwear manufacturing factory in 2013. They work to create fair jobs through their factory in Ethiopia and partner with suppliers, farmers and craftsmen throughout Africa.
