Ornaments of Hope
With the holidays around the corner, we know you're already planning what garlands to hang on your mantel and what lights will twinkle on your windows. We can almost smell a waft of that warm, delicious pie you're baking. And no judgment here - you have our permission to put up your tree, now that it's November!
This year, why don't you add a few of our Ornaments of Hope to your tree? These beautiful one-of-a-kind ornaments are made by one of our Costa Rican artisan families - Orlando and his wife Fautina, along with their daughters, Yorleny and Matilde.
These ornaments are made from the pita plant. It is a long laborious process to turn the pita leaves into the material that our artisans weave with. They strip the plant fibers, dry them, dye them with natural colors like berries and roots, and then weave them into the ornaments that you see now!
When you donate $20 and over, you will receive a beautiful handmade ornament that, not only makes a beautiful addition to your tree but also, directly benefits our hardworking artisans! All Ornaments of Hope donations will go directly to our scholarship fund to send eligible Hands Producing Hope artisans to school.
One school year's tuition costs $250.
